Fellows

The following team of CISSL fellows are supported bt the Beverly E. Schoen and the Scholastic Research Fellowships.

Laura Henry, MLIS Candidate - Ed Media Track, Beverly E. Schoen Fellow.

A resident of Hillsborough, NJ, Laura holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Marketing with a Minor in Art from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey). Laura Henry is a ten year veteran of communications with a focus on internet products and services. Today she functions as an operations manager for her husband's business while caring for her two children at home.

Laura will complete her master's degree and educational certification by May 2009. She plans to work as a school librarian and collaborate with classroom teachers to develop guided inquiry learning programs

Edith Beckett - Ph.D student, SCILS

A resident of Trenton, New Jersey, Edith holds a B.A. in Liberal Studies from Rider University, and a master's degree in Library and Information Science from SCILS.  Edith has worked at the New Jersey State Library since 1987, and currently works as a reference and training librarian.

She is also a student in the SCILS Ph.D program, and her studies are supported by a fellowship funded by the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian program.  Her developing area of interest is the information behavior of adolescents, and she would like to explore creating partnerships between urban public and school libraries to promote adolescent literacy and learning beyond the school environment.  She is also interested in exploring the uses of technology to support learning and literacy.
